I know I've already written a post about Laura Story's song, "Blessings." I just can't let it go. I seriously currently have You Tube opened in another window, listening to the song on repeat while also downloading it onto my iPod.
If you haven't listened to it yet, you need to. It's that simple. And you need to read the lyrics, so I'm going to post them. And then you need to download it to your iPod and listen to it 20 times in a row.
Yep, it's that good.
Laura's story is pretty amazing. This video shares more, but "Blessings" came out of the struggles related to her husband's brain cancer. (She's also hysterical!)
Everybody's got struggles. Through our story, Matt and I have had the opportunity to hear the stories of so many others. And I know firsthand how hard it can be to hear it's all part of God's plan because some people carelessly throw that statement around without considering the pain that can go along with that plan. We've ridden this roller coaster of emotions, hitting the absolute thankfulness, to bitterness, to joy, to brokenness, and everything in between. But Matt and I are learning day by day that this all truly is part of God's plan, and that, "trials of this life, the rain, the storms, the hardest nights are your mercies in disguise."
So read these lyrics. Please. And listen to the song!!! You won't be sorry.
We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things
‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe
‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know the pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home,
It's not our home
‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise
