New Room

Abby seems to be adjusting to her new room quite well!  She's sleeping through the night and is taking much better naps now.  I think having a consistent (and comfy!) bed for all sleeping is important.  Before, the nurses would pretty much let her fall asleep wherever...on the floor, in the bouncy seat, in the saucer, in the jumperoo... She seems quite content in here!  The vent tubes go through the slats in the crib so that the water drains properly.  Did I mention that she's up to 3 1/2 hours 2x a day now OFF of the vent?! My sleeping beauty :)

DIY Project

I got a mirror from our local consignment shop a few months ago for just $3 with the intent of painting it for Abby's room.  I finally got around to doing it this past week when Matt was away.  It's amazing how much you can get done in the few hours you're waiting for the nurse after Abby goes to sleep! The person who had this mirror before did a strange marbled effect to it. I wasn't too fond of it, so I painted over it.  This is what it looked like before I started. Do you see the brown stuff?  It was sponged on, but it just looked dirty. There were some gauges in it too. Yeah, it was late.  Whatever! I did a lot of sanding to smooth the rough spots and make everything even.  The sanding also took off some of the marbled stuff. All the streaks on the mirror was from sanding dust. 3 coats of white paint later... It looks great in her room!

I've Waited for This for a Long Time

Tonight, Abby is asleep in her crib, in her room , for the very first time!!  I've waited for this night for a couple of years now, since we moved Caleb out of this room and into his current room.  (This one is right across from ours, so it's better for a baby.)  I sat in here and wondered what our baby would be like before I was even expecting.  I dreamed of pretty purple and green decorations when I found out we were having a little girl.  Many, many tears fell onto this carpet as we wondered if Abby would ever get to see her room.  When she did come home, we immediately took her up and showed her around.  While she would be staying downstairs for the time being, this was her room. Well, folks, the time has come!  We did some work today to get the finishing touches done and officially moved her in tonight.  The rocking chair that was in the playroom came upstairs, since here is where the nurses will be sitting the most.  Since Ab...
