In an ideal world, I would have posted this last evening, after my children quietly drifted off to dreamland while I sipped hot tea and nibbled cookies.
Ha.
Life doesn't always work out the way you planned, so that's why I'm posting today. Better late than never, because yesterday was a great day!!!!!!
Why, you ask?? Welllllllllll, if you're friends with me on Facebook, you already know. If you're a blog buddy, then TWO wonderful things happened yesterday!
1. Abby stood for over 20 seconds by herself during therapy!!!!
2. Abby said "Momma" as her very first word!!!!
The girl is so stubborn. Of all the times we were trying to get her to stand without assistance, it wasn't until she [forcefully] pulled her hand away from my finger that she finally did it. Everything has to be on her terms! All of us froze when we saw her do it because we didn't want to scare her and cause her to fall! She eventually started crying and turned into me, but I was sooooo proud of her! The tears were flowing, that's for sure!
Unfortunately, she has yet to do it again for us, so no video. It's not from a lack of trying, let me tell ya! Matt really wants to see her do it!
I did, however, manage to get a video of her saying Momma!
It really doesn't matter that "Momma" is her first word, although I do love it. It's just the fact that she has figured out that her lips work with her mouth to make sounds! All of the massage, all of the mimicking, all of the silly noises and funny faces...they are finally starting to pay off! My girl finally has a first word. When people ask if she can talk, we can say YES!! (and then leave it at that!) :)
Disclaimer: This was video attempt #5because Caleb kept talking during them and she was totally DONE with her speaking valve at this point. So it's not the best "Momma" she's done, but it was all she would give me!
By the way, note the sassiness coming out loud and clear after she says "Momma." :)

Just two more on the "She'll never..." list that we can check off!

You know, Julie.... When my healthy, perfectly normal sister was little, she refused to talk. Our doctor then asked: "Is she making animal sounds?" "Yes....", we answered. "Then she can talk"!!
My sister is just quiet!! ;)
