...to end the word!
My alma mater made a great video to support the Spread the Word to End the Word initiative. These teens are choosing to use other words than the R-word. Are you?
No matter what the context, the r-word is offensive, rude, and unnecessary. Expand your vocabulary please!

This is going to be an unpopular opinion, and I would not be offended one bit if you deleted it. Here goes!! First off, I have a dear friend who has Down's syndrome. He is my brother. However. Being a writer who loves words, in my opinion, "retarded" is just that. A word. It simply means "slow". Right? I have learning disabilities. Therefore I am slow. However, "retarded" is hardly in my vocabulary. As a matter of fact, I don't even notice it!! My youngest brother is not "mentally retarded", in my opinion. He's smart as a whip!! Society's problem with "the r-word" is that so many people freely throw it around to make fun of, and hurt those with "special needs". Not okay. I'm not okay with that. So, I do appreciate your efforts toward preaching this message. I would never even dream of calling an individual who has some form of disability "retarded". Never. Thanks for reading my unpopular opinion.
