RMH Updates

Our MOPS group went to RMH the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and it was so much fun!  We made a Mexican meal with tacos, Spanish rice (with awesome homemade seasonings!), chips and salsa, and corn bread.  We also did the activity hour where kids and adults enjoyed making the Perler Beads into fun patterns.  There were some pretty creative kids!

The House wasn't full (an awesome miracle, because that means more families were able to be home for Thanksgiving!), but we had a great crowd at the activity hour.  It was nice to be able to sit and spend some time chatting with some of the families.  It seemed that most everyone there was international, but we were able to break through most of the language barriers and find some common ground.

I was also able to catch up with some friends I made during my time staying at RMH, who were back for their baby's next surgery.  It was nice to see a familiar face and love on their sweet little boy.

I think all of my MOPS friends had a great time, and I can't wait to head back again!

If you got the RMH newsletter (I believe that everyone who donates gets on their mailing list, but I'm not sure about that), you might have seen some familiar faces!  There are a couple of pictures of our family, as well as a birthday picture of Abby and one of Abby and Caleb.  In the newsletter, they announced the grand total of donations that were given in honor of Abby's first birthday....over $2,000!!!!!  WOW, that is incredible!!!  Thank you SOOOOOO much to all of you who donated.  I sent thank you notes to everyone I was aware of, but thank you to those of you who did it online as well!!!  Please know that your donations are going to an awesome cause!  If you aren't sure what RMH is all about, just ask me.  I'll fill your ear.  :)

We are looking for people to join our team for the RMH Red Shoe Shuffle run/walk on April 15th.  I know it's a looooooong way off, but wouldn't it be nice to just go ahead and register so that you can put it on your calendar?!  :)

If you're interested in joining us, go to http://www.redshoeshuffle.org/.  Be sure to choose "Joy Runners" as your team!

----------

If you "Adopt a Week" for RMH right now, you will receive a 4-pack of tickets to the B&O Railway Museum's Holiday Festival and a pack of RMH Christmas cards!  What a great Christmas present--helping a family stay together during a medical crisis.

I hope you guys realize by now how important this place is to us.  One of my friends asked me if being back at RMH brought back bad memories...not at all!!!  It fills me with hope, because that's the kind of place it is.  It's "The house that love built."

Cerebrocostomandibular Syndrome

If you happen to pick up the latest Reader's Digest, there is an article in there about Piper Breinholt , a four year old with CCMS.  If you've been around here a while, you'll remember wayyyyyy back when we first received Abby's diagnosis that I was able to speak to Piper's mom, Reagan.  The article is more about their story and not as much about the ins and outs of CCMS, but I think it's probably enough to get some people googling it and I'm hoping a few will end up here. Every once in a while, I give a blog post the title of Cerebrocostomandibular Syndrome so that it would show up in Google.  My ever-present hope is that people will stumble across my blog and 1) be encouraged by the hope we have in Christ, 2) feel a connection with someone in a similar situation as them, or 3) get excited over the miracles that have been performed in Abby's life!!  (a combination of all 3 is great too!)  :)   Notice that it's not to get famous and it never wi

Bath Time Photos!!

As promised, here are lots of photos of Abby's first bath. Caleb was supposed to be in bed, but the bathroom is right next to his room... "I'm not too sure about this..." Once she learned how to splash, she was all smiles! Her first good hair wash! Gotta protect the trach! She really liked getting water poured on her head.  It was cute! Smiley (and bubbly) for Daddy while he dried her off. All clean!!  (Note the Lysol wipes in that last picture.  They are NEVER far away!)

Imagination Movers Photo Recap

Seriously, The Imagination Movers were so much fun!  They played lots of their own music, with some classic rock mixed in for the adults.  There were also quite a few jokes and references to Baltimore, which was kind of fun.   The whole night centered around this robot named Rock-o-Matic, or "Rocko."   This is Mover Scott, and he wears Wobble Goggles that help him see new ideas.  Caleb and Abby have a pair of goggles too.  :) There are 4 main Movers that are part of the TV show, but they have 2 extra movers to play instruments and do back-up vocals in their live tour. Abby finished up her feed before the show started so that she would be free to dance! My dancing queen did NOT want to sit in my lap.  The row in front of us was empty, and that is where she stood almost the entire show--dancing the night away. My Imagination Movers  Caleb did his share of singing and dancing too.  He knows most of the words to the songs, so
