Bin Laden Thoughts

Matt woke me up on Sunday night to tell me that Bin Laden had been killed.  I first felt disbelief, and then fear.  I just kept thinking, what in the world will they do to us now?

I read people's Facebook posts about our worries being over and that we can sleep better knowing he's dead, and I couldn't help but wonder if people really thought that terrorism was destroyed because we killed one member of the network?  If anything, we just poked our finger in a huge hornet's nest!  That's just my own fear of retaliation, and I do believe it's coming.  I just hope that we're ready to fight it.

Naturally, I have a lot of pride in our military for their efforts, as I always do.  Those men and women do incredible service to our nation and they should be paid millions for their sacrifices!  The Navy Seals were extremely brave to perform an attack like that.  I can only imagine what was going through their minds as they were being briefed on that helicopter.

But I'm just having a hard time celebrating the death of another person.  Yes, he was an extremely evil man who was responsible for the killing of thousands of innocent people.  Yes, he proclaimed his hatred for America and gave the Muslim religion a very bad name. 

I won't argue...he deserved to die. 

But don't we all?

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

I truly don't believe there was any other way to bring him down than to kill him.  It had to be done.  But that doesn't mean that we need to celebrate it and make up songs about it. 

Consider his family, even if they don't share our beliefs...consider the woman that died because she was used as a shield...consider that nothing good comes from stirring up more hatred...consider that God certainly wasn't celebrating his death. 

I know that my post  may not be real popular.  Some people may even call me unpatriotic.  I'm not saying that he didn't deserve to die.  I'm not saying that we shouldn't have killed him.  I just don't think it's right to celebrate another person's eternal damnation.  If anything, I'm so sorry that it came to this.  I wish there had been another way.
