I don't know about you, but my kids HATE, H-A-T-E putting sunscreen on. You would think I was torturing Caleb by the way he was screaming, instead of helping him to have an enjoyable time outside. I keep telling him that someday he'll thank me, but he hasn't gotten there yet.
I have gotten Caleb the UV shirts since he was a baby because it's that much less sunscreen I have to rub in, but it's harder to find UV shirts for little girls--especial UV shirts with swim trunks to go with them!
So I was super excited to be able to try out the GrUVy Wear brand of swim attire! They have some super cute surfer-style patterns in every size from infant all the way up to adults. There are even adorable swim skirts for the fashionable girls! They have a whole line of rhinestone and decal shirts too with everything from LOVE to skull and crossbones printed on them...if you're into skulls and crossbones!
The swimshirts are all UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) 50+, which means that is it protects 97.5% of all of the harmful UV rays. This is super important to me, coming from a family of fair-skinned people with lots of cancer spots constantly being removed. I don't let my kids burn, whether they fight me on the sunscreen or not!
Here's Abby in her little GrUVy Girl swim suit!

Here's Abby in her little GrUVy Girl swim suit!
The material is really comfortable and it dries super quick. In fact, when she started in on her heavy-duty splashing, the water just kind of beaded up and fell right off. It was pretty cool!
As the mom of a tubie, I MUCH prefer the shirt to the one-piece bathing suit. Abby gets fed via gtube every 4 hours, and it would be a real pain to have to take her bathing suit off to hook her up. I actually fed her in this swim suit this morning because I was too lazy to change her I wanted to get the full effect of the swim suit in all its glory!
Normally, Abby is soaking wet by the time she's done with the water table. But since the water beads up so much, she was dry in no time and even went out to her playhouse for a little while.
Hey, look! You can even pull weeds in it! :)
The weeding was not part of the original plan, and thus the swim suit got very dirty. I was a little nervous that it was hand wash/drip dry only, but the dirt rinsed right out and now it's just hanging in my laundry room.
I was lucky enough to receive a complimentary set of swimwear for my Abby Girl to try out in exchange for writing a review for the company. As you should know by now, I don't lie in my reviews. The opinions expressed in this post are all my own, and I really do love the suit! If only Abby could get some real beach or pool time with it, instead of just having to stick around the water table. Soon, soon!
If you'd like to get one of these for your anti-sunscreen kiddo, check them out here. I'll even give you a coupon code for 15% off, because I love you so much! The code is: SAVE1531
