My girl is up to...drumroll please.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... 17 lbs, 6 oz!!!!!!
I think we can officially say she's no longer a preemie. :)
She has gained 2 pounds in less than a month. That new feeding schedule is working for her!!!
Feeding therapy went well today. She ate really well and the therapist was thrilled with her progress. She kept saying Abby is like a different child. Now, our goal with spoon feeding is speed. She wants Abby to eat and swallow faster, which we will work on.
She's also fine with the bottle feeding, but said that it's not our top priority because Abby will be transitioning to a sippy cup soon anyway. She said not to push the bottle, so I'm going to buy a few of the transition Nubby cups and work on that. She was fine with us doing it if we were able to take the time...which I am! :)
We are also allowed to expand Abby's tasting and increase the frequency. The amount will stay the same each time, but she'll be eating more often. She also wants us to feel free to give her little tastes of lots of different foods, such as yogurt, spaghetti sauce, Italian ice, etc. She wants us to discover whether she likes sweet, salty, sour, or spicy. That's our mission! I'm really excited about letting Abby try some new foods, and I already gave her a little taste of spaghetti sauce tonight. The jury's still out on that one. :)
The helmet-wearing was a million times better today and she actually slept the whole way there and back in the car. She's definitely getting used to it. Abby is wearing her helmet for the first time overnight, so hopefully she will sleep well with it!
